From Istanbul, Turkey, GUREN Design provides naval architecture for motor yachts, explorer yachts, gulets and high-speed planing craft — hydrostatics, stability, resistance and structural engineering — producing the technical package a shipyard needs to price and build the vessel.
Naval architecture is the engineering that makes a vessel safe, seakindly and efficient over its whole life. It covers hull form and lines, hydrostatics and stability, resistance and powering, and the structural design that carries the loads. The exterior designer decides what a yacht should look like; the naval architect makes sure it floats upright, reaches its speed, and holds together at sea.
Our naval architecture work spans 40-metre explorer yachts built for heavy-weather operation, eco gulets, power catamarans and race-bred powerboats where structural efficiency and hydrodynamic performance are the only constraints. Each hull type puts the weight of the analysis somewhere different: range and stability for an explorer, resistance and slamming loads for a planing hull.
We work with a small network of trusted engineering consultants and classification surveyors to deliver complete technical packages, from concept through to build supervision. During construction we answer builder queries and clarify drawings so the design intent survives to delivery.
The exterior designer shapes the look and layout; the naval architect engineers the hull, stability, resistance and structure. GUREN offers both, separately or as one package.
Yes. Projects include race-bred powerboats, jet boats and power catamarans as well as displacement motor yachts and explorers.
Yes. The studio works for owners and for builders, and delivers the technical data a yard needs to price and construct a vessel.
Yes. Site visits, drawing clarifications and technical responses to builder queries continue through to delivery.
