Noise and vibration assessment
Find resonance on paper, not on sea trials.
Noise and vibration problems are cheapest to solve before the vessel is built. We compare the natural frequencies of key structures — decks, foundations, aft body, masts — with the excitation from engines, propellers and other machinery.
Where frequencies come too close, we propose practical measures: stiffening, changes to mounting, layout adjustments or insulation priorities. The scope is focused on design-stage risk.
What we deliver
- Natural frequency assessment of key structural areas
- Excitation review for engines, propellers and machinery
- Resonance risk map across the operating speed range
- Mitigation recommendations for structure and mounting
- Assessment report for the design team
Typical inputs we need
- Structural drawings or model of the areas of concern
- Machinery list with speeds and mounting arrangements
- Propeller data: blade count, diameter, tip clearance
- Comfort targets or reported issues, if any
Questions
Can you investigate vibration on an existing vessel?
Yes. With drawings, machinery data and a description of the issue, we identify likely sources and propose corrective measures.
Do you provide full acoustic predictions?
Our focus is structural vibration and design-stage risk.
